Make Me Up: Thanksgiving Glittah!

How To: ☆Crackle Nails☆ White and Gold

This was my first time using crackle nail polish and I loved how it came out! I was expecting it to be a bit harder, from watching others reviews, but I had no problem at all with the polish cracking. The China Glaze Crackle polishes were limited edition, but lately I have seen a lot more inexpensive brands come out with crackle nail polishes, so I definitely be trying out more. I just finished filming a tutorial for this look and thought I'd put up the pictures on here in advance. I wore this look out last week for a special night out and I really loved it! I changed a few things for the video, but most of it was the same as the original. This is a great look for the holidays or any parties coming up! Make Me Up: Silvers & Purples

So I recently moved my makeup area because it was near the heater and since it's going to start getting cold soon, they're going to start giving heat. I wanted to test out my new area, to see how I like it and how comfortable it is to apply my makeup. This is what I came up with after playing around with some makeup. It's one of my favorite kind of eye looks to do, nearly nude lids with super dark creases. I also have been trying to branch out with my makeup, tweaking a few things from the norm, like combining colors on my eyes with colors on my lips. Hope you like it!

I got the InStyler!! (QVC Edition)

I'm soo excited over my new pink InStyler!! I don't know why, but I get really excited over hair related things, I would say more excited than I get over makeup. Not that I prefer hair over makeup, but I think it's because hair is such an untouched territory when it comes to me, especially when compared to makeup. So here are some pics of my hair (with my new short bob!) after I've used the InStyler. It's still very new to me, but I really loved the results I got on my first use. It also worked beautifully on my mom. Enjoy! : )

Make Me Up: Catwalk Ready with Shimmers

This look came to be, from playing around with my NYX 10 Eyeshadow Palette from the Runway Collection in "Catwalk." I originally bought this palette because I wanted something that inlcuded shimmery warm colors, very similar to what Victoria Secret models wear on the catwalk! I eneded up using a great mixture of colors on my eyes, incorporating about 8 of the 10 eyeshadows, and I was very pleased with the outcome! It's a super shimmery warm brown eye, that's subtle enough for the daytime, yet has enough color for a night look, and to top it off, falsies that add a flare to either occasion. Hope you enjoy!

Here is a quick look I threw on for a video; It's a really easy and quick charcoal-based smokey eye. This is something super quick I'll do, when I want dark eyes, but don't have a lot of time; It involves a dark lid (any color of your choice) and a brown matte color in the crease. I originally did purpley lips, but I just could not stray away from my staple nude haha. All in all, this look is not time consuming, but still delivers with sultry darkness on the eyes. Like usual, I play around with my makeup at night, and on this particular night, I decided to recreate a makeup look I saw a model wearing in a magazine. I don't know about you, but I always rip out magazine pages when I see pretty makeup (not necessarily to recreate it, mostly to just look at it lol), and this time I decided to recreate it!

I consider this super dramatic because it has colored shadow all the way up to the brow bone. But I ended up loving this oh so much! And I would totally wear this out and rock it! I named it taste the rainbow, because it reminds me of skittles hehe. Hope you enjoy! : )

Make Me Up: Elegant in Mattes for 2011

After my first failed attempt at coming up with a look for New Year's Eve 2010, I tried once again. Let me say that I was very much pleased with this outcome, so much that I actually chose it as the winning look! It consists of a mostly matte eye (which I LOVE because of the flawless effect and airbrush finish it gives off!) and some shimmer in the inner eye to make me glowy and bright.

The look itself is very simple, mostly just white, black and brown matte shadows. I'm also including pictures of the eye look with different tweaks on the face (I did this because I was still experimenting, to find the perfect look), but I ended up actually wearing the original look on New Year's Eve. I even threw in a picture of that night! Hope you enjoy! : )

Make Me Up: Party Like It's 2011

This is the result of me playing around with makeup, on a night of the departed 2010. I was thinking of what look I wanted to sport on New Year's Eve, and I immediately thought GLITTER... I should've thought NO! Things did not come out as planned because once I applied my silver glitter onto my sticky base, it basically gunked up. It turned into a thick (and i mean THICK) layer of sticky, chunky glitter on my eyelid.

Nonetheless, I like the idea I was originally going for; Maybe I'll give it another try sometime. I still wanted to post this, despite the negative results, just to share it with you guys! Hope you enjoy (if you don't, I understand haha)!

I played around with my makeup the other night, as I tend to do many times before going to sleep. I apologize for looking so sleepy in these pictures, but by the time I took them I was reallyy tired lol. While thinking about what look to do, it came to my mind, the idea of doing more practical looks, ones that don't require 5 different eyeshadows from 3 different palettes; The magic behind it, is that it is a very accessible look that can be created on the spot, no matter where you are.

I simply used one L'Oreal HIP duo for my eyes, to create a blue and brown smoked out eye, and I must say, I loved the results! Simple, yet striking! Hope you enjoy!

Another night of boredom, and this is what came out of it. I really loovvee it! The lid color is a dupe for MAC's pigment in "Blue Brown", and the crease color is an HD eyeshadow by Nicka K. Make Me Up: Reminiscing the Silver, Red and Black of 2009

Hey guys : ) The makeup I wore today was very special, not for the looks of it, but for the sentiments behind it. The first time I created this look, was around May of 2009. Now, you have to know that I rarely ever do the same makeup twice (Except for simple things, that would be considered everyday. But even then, I use similar colors, but switch up the products); The main reason for this would be, that I have such a variety of products and brands, that I like to give myself a chance to use everything, and the artist in me doesn't like to repeat creations, I find it exciting to see what new look I will have created when I'm done (If it's a repeated look, the excitement is gone, and after a while it gets boring). But for this look I made an exception because when I first created it, I had just graduated high school (Or was about to... can't remember), and my friend Denise had given me the inspiration with the colors, my other friend gave me the title to name the look; It just all makes me reminiscent of the strong friendship I used to have with my friends, while we were still in school together. So applying this makeup on today made me very joyful, though I did tweek some things (That's the artist in me coming out haha... "I won't let you repeat Massiel, I WON'T").

An interesting observation though, was that I saw soooo many things in the original look, that I would now have changed/fixed LOL. I guess this means that my skills have gotten better *celebrates*. Practice makes perfect guys, not that perfection actually exists, but you can definitely get closer to it with practice : ). Anyways, I really think that I have improved my makeup application, within the last year; Tell me what you think, I'll post pictures of both versions belows.

I have been such a bad blogger :( But I really am trying to get my life back in order and organized. So I'm doing a makeup of the day post, which is like makeup of the day that passed a month ago LOL. Anyways it's a smokin' hot purple look, I did one night before going to sleep. Review: Wet N Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Palette in "Lust"

I can pretty much say that I got my makeup start in Wet N Wild; many would look back at that and cringe because of the stereotype on drugstore makeup, but I LOVE Wet N Wild makeup to this day!

Before going into the review, let me just rant a little about this negative stereotype people have placed on drugstore makeup… I understand if you have tried drugstore makeup and were disappointed, then were turned off towards it all. But there are many drugstore products that are gold mines, and so many people can vouch to that. So don’t just turn you back to drugstore makeup just because you think that the price is cheap, so the quality will be cheap! I have no problem with people using higher end stuff, I myself use a lot of it, But I just think that if you are a true makeup lover, you must give everything a chance. : )

So I will be reviewing this amazing Wet N Wild palette!! Can you tell the review is going to be positive? LOL.

This is the Color Icon Eyeshadow Pallete, by Wet N Wild. It is in the color “Lust” (248). I currently only have this palette, but I plan on getting all the rest! The other palettes are called “Pride” (Blues and Greens), “Greed” (Smoky Palette – pastels and blacks), “Vanity” (Browns and Neutrals). I bought this palette at Duane Reade (which is a drugstore, in case you don’t know) for about $4.99. I’m sure you can find it at other stores, from target to walgreens, at varying prices.

Just as a little side note and tip, the purples palette works amazing for brown eyes! So does the blues and greens palette! For blue and green eyes, the browns and neutrals palette would look amazing! And it’s also great for everyday, for any eye color. The smoky palette is just plain awesome for that sexy, sultry eye..for any eye color ; ) But remember, you can wear whatever you please, because as long as you feel confident with what you have, you will look as beautiful and sexy as a goddess!

The eye shadows in this palette are very smooth, pigmented, long lasting and blendable. Actually they are extremely blendable lol, so if you’re used to stroking your brush many times to blend your eye shadow, don’t do that when you apply these because they will just disappear. The amount of time needed to achieve that blended look, is very minimal, which is great for when you don’t have a lot of time.

A great thing about this palettes, is that they have a lot of MAC dupes in them, which is good for those who can’t or won’t splurge on MAC.

Another thing I LOVE about these Color Icon palettes, is that they all have six eye shadows, three of which are matte and three others, which are shimmery. This is a fabulous idea in my opinion because it can appeal to women who love shimmer, women who love mattes, women who love both, women with mature skin, women with youthful skin, women who like a variation of textures on their eye makeup, and the list goes on.

In all palettes, the three left eye shadows are matte.

And in all palettes, the three eye shadows on the right are shimmery.

Next I will describe the colors for you:

The first matte color is a very light, pastel, baby pink. It is said to be a dupe for MAC’s “Yogurt” eye shadow, but I can’t be certain of that because I don’t own that eye shadow. The first shimmery color is an even lighter pink, almost a white pink. Of course it has shimmers, but on top of that it also contains glitter which are always fun (at least for me :p). Since these are both fairly light colors, the have to be packed on more for them to appear opaque, especially the matte one.

The second matte color is a beautiful purple. It is said to be a dupe for MAC’s “Fig 1” eye shadow. Again, can’t vouch for that. The second shimmery color is almost like a black with slight purple undertones, and amazing red-pink-purple glitters. These glitters are much finer than the ones in the first shimmery eye shadow, this is more like chunky shimmers. This color is said to be comparable to MAC’s “Beauty Marked” eye shadow. Though i don’t own that shadow, I know it pretty well and I really do think they are VERY similar.

The third matte eye shadow is a brilliant blackened-purple, with the intensity of a pitch black night! It is an exact dupe for MAC’s “Shadowy Lady” eye shadow, and this I can say with certainty because I actually own it, but you will read more about this below. The third shimmery eye shadow is charcoal grey, that’s very frosty. This is said to be comparable to MAC’s “Knight Divine” eye shadow. I don’t own it, but they look very similar.

All of these eye shadows are superbly pigmented and opaque. Now,before I show you the swatches, let me show you more in depth how identical the third matte shadow is to MAC’s “Shadowy Lady” eye shadow.

There you can see both eye shadows in finger swatches, hand swatches (both with no base used), in different lighting and in the pots. I can honestly see no difference! Can you? In my humble opinion, this is an official dupe for Shadowy Lady : D

But I also wanted to see how they compared in quality, so one day I put each eye shadow on each eye (I used same primer on both eyes…no bias whatsoever.), and the Wet N Wild color was wayyyy easier to blend than Shadow Lady. By the end of the day, they both remained on my lid as it was when I applied. Since I LOVE purples, I had named Shadowly Lady my all time favorite eye shadow because it was a good alternate for black in ANY look. But now I have given the title to the Wet N Wild eye shadow because it is sooo much easier to blend!

This has turned into a loong post, I will just show you the swatches and wrap it up lol.

*Concealer was used as a base.

Ok so that sums it up for my review on Wet N Wild’s Color Icon Palette in “Lust” (248). And just in case you couldn’t tell from the post, I totally recommend this palette LOL.

How to store your de-potted NYX eye shadow pans

Hey guys! So in my last post I showed you all my NYX eye shadows, and a lovely girl here on blogger world, Tina, asked me where I stored my NYX eye shadow pans. I thought that showing this could be helpful to many people, as well as her.

I used to keep my NYX single eye shadows in a little squared pencil case, but it was very irritating to have to search through it all when I wanted to find a color. So one day I decided I wanted to de-pot all my NYX eye shadow, and I did… It was a very smart move; Now I have all these NYX eye shadows laid out for me, it is much easier to search through and it is compacted well enough for travel.

I recommend everyone to de-pot their eye shadows, especially if you have many of them.

De-potting is very easy, but can be a lengthy process. This blog post is not about de-potting, so I’ll refrain from going into details of how to go about doing it, but I will link a helpful youtube video that shows you how to de-pot your NYX single shadows.

So where I put my eye shadow pans, is in a MAC eye shadow palette; They stick because the MAC palettes are magnetized. Though, MAC eye shadows are round, while NYX’s are squared, but there is a way to get around this inconvenience. Most of you have probably seen this method already, but it consists of removing the plastic insert, that separates each pan.



I’ll link another youtube video, that shows you how to convert your MAC palette, so you can fit any pan that you desire.

Please take note that you can do this to any palette, that is plastic and has an insert. There are many companies out there that sell empty makeup palettes.

So onto the actual storage part about this blog post LOL.

By converting a MAC palette like I mentioned before, you can fit up to 20 NYX shadow pans in it, if you place them how you see below. I tried reorganizing it, to see if I could fit more, but I couldn’t figure anything out : / If you know of a way to fit more, please let me know in a comment : )

What you do,is you de-pot your eye shadow, then you’ll just have the pan left; all the plastic casing will be discarded.

I also like to remove the sticker from the back of the pot, which contains the number and name of the eye shadow, and glue it to the back of the pan. This way I can still reference to the colors, even though the pot is long gone. Oh and a very important thing you can’t forget, is to glue a magnet to the back of the pan, otherwise it won’t grab to the magnet in the palette, then your eye shadows will all be loose and all over the place. I first glue the magnet to the bare pan, then I glue the label over it. I can keep my shadows magnetized and labeled… efficient!

Then you can just place the pan on the palette, and it’ll hold! The good thing is that you can remove the pans whenever you want, so you can rearrange the shadows if you’d like.

Here I am holding my palette upright and none of the pans fell out!

Hi and if you're reading this, you probably have a certain interest in makeup. In this blog I will mostly be posting swatches. The reason I wanted to make a blog was because I find it very helpful when I can easily google swatches for products I'm interested and I can find them on blogs. It make the whole shopping experience much easier, especially for I'm buying online. So I'll have pics of swatches, probably some reviews and maybe also full face makeup pics so you can see certain products being used! Anyways I really do hope this helps someone out there lol.
